    Integration of Linked Open Data Authorities with OpenRefine : A Methodology for Libraries

    The primary purpose of this paper is to explore the integration process of linked open data authority with OpenRefine for easy access of related metadata towards the creation of data cleaning and updating in a modern integrated library system. The integration process and methods are based on the API of reconciliation repositories collected from web resources. This integrated framework will be designed and developed on OpenRefine techniques and components based on RDF, CSV, SPARQL, and Turtle scripts. This integrated framework is based on JAVA and Apache Web Server for running the OpenRefine on the Ubuntu Platform. This integrated framework has been explored the data cleaning and import of bibliographic metadata from multiple linking authorities such as Open Library, ORCID, VIAF, VIAF BNF, Library of Congress Authorities data, and Wikidata. These are the essential findings of this study for creating a new interface to library professionals and advanced users. The library professionals are very much benefitted by using this system and services towards easy import and access of related linking resources from the Wikidata. Aside from these, it also explores the other facilities for data cleaning and updating the information from multiple scripts and URLs in the Web environment. It is possible to fetch related linking authorities for enhancing the advanced level services in a modern library management system. So, library carpentry and data carpentry are essential concepts for making a dynamic integrated interface for library professionals

Theoretical framework is an inevitable and indispensable for each and every library in the field of automated and digital library system. Content management system can be developed in three ways such as workflow of content management system, software selection in CMS cluster, and parameters selection in CMS cluster.     Development of Domain Specific Cluster : An Integrated Framework for College Libraries under the University of Burdwan

    This paper discusses the development of six domain specific cluster software in the college libraries under the University of Burdwan. Library is the heart of educational institutions. So, as to select the open source relevant with comprehensive software and global parameters on the basis of global recommendations like IFLA-Working Group, Integrated Library System for Discovery Interface (ILS-DI), Request for Proposals (RFP), Request for Comments (RFC), Service Oriented Architectre (SOA) and Open Library Environment Projects (OLE) including the areas like integrated library system cluster, digital media archiving cluster, content management system cluster, learning content management system cluster, federated search system cluster and college communication interaction cluster for designing and developing the college libraries under the University of Burdwan. Also develop the single window based interface in six domain specific cluster for the college librarians and the users to access their necessary resources through open source software and open standards. These six domain specific cluster softwares are to be selected for easily managed the digital and library resources in the college libraries affiliated to the University of Burdwan.     Designing Course Reserves using Koha and VuFind for Library Users

    Purpose Course reserve module in ILS OPAC and web-scale library discovery services are interconnected to data management and educational resource management systems. Every department and course instructor are designed the course based on the user\u27s requirements. The goal of this article is to analyze the instructional reserves component integrating open source tools Koha and VuFind in order to provide advanced level CMS and LCMS services that satisfy users. . It is also feasible with metadata searching from other repositories, e.g., OCLC WorldCat and Amazon, to increase the web-scale discovery services among the users and library professionals. Methodology Popular level software has been selected based on course reserve requirements such as Koha and VuFind. It needs proper installation and configuration with the help of multiple files and scripts. Design the template and layout based on Koha and VuFind for course-specific reserve and add the barcode to display the items and link in Koha library OPAC easily. This course module will be integrated with the VuFind to provide web-enabled discovery services based on departments, instructors, and course URLs. Findings The whole integrated domain-specific interface is beneficial to the users because they could easily access the course reserve materials developed by different subject experts. As a consequence, both Koha and VuFind just provide capability of delivering the appropriate course module to the correct participants at the perfect time.Library users have access and download their course from this integrated interface to continue their online learning process. This framework will fully enable web-based services for CMS and LCMS regarding the fulfillment of tags clouds, metadata searching, and OCLC WorldCat Local searching. Originality This innovative integrated framework is providing full-text resources using MARC21 tags for the users. The librarians at any academic institution will benefit much from these instructions, stages, and methods. VuFind, which uses a single-window search technique, can also get a course reservation for library users. It is one of the advanced-level web-scale library discovery services for students and instructors to continue their educational activities during the COVID-19 pandemic using the course reserve module of Koha and VuFind

While much of the activity related to semantic technology still takes place within the academic community, there are now real-world examples of the technology to use as a model. This paper has selected the matured level open-source tools for management of taxonomy and ontology in semantic web environment.     Purpose The significant purpose of conducting this research is to find out more about folksonomy-based services with the help of word cloud and tag cloud. Broader terms and narrower terms are searching on bibliographic records and linking web repositories. It shows the integration mechanism of the word cloud and tag cloud with ILS OPAC using Koha and HTML scripts. Designing and developing a process for easy retrieving of library resources based on folksonomy enabled services. These new innovative services are very much helpful for library users. Methodology This folksonomy-based integrated framework has been developed and designed based on global repositories. Word cloud and tag cloud are possible with the help of HTML scripts and Koha ILS OPAC. Developed a framework for incorporating the HTML script in Koha OPAC main user block based on tools and news options in staff client interfaces. The HTML script has been designed from the word cloud concept in the online repository. This integrated web 2.0 framework is very fruitful to library professionals because it depends on a LAMP architecture. The whole system and services have been developed on Ubuntu operating system. Findings Folksonomy-based services can be achieved for the users after proper configuration and adding of these concepts. It is possible to provide the web 2.0 services with the help of word cloud and tag cloud from Koha ILS OPAC. Related terms and links can be accessed using this integrated framework. So, folksonomy-based services have been provided by using these techniques. Originality The originality of this study is keyword visualization based on folksonomy services. This integrated framework belongs to web 2.0 concepts. It is possible to generate the word cloud and tag cloud in ILS OPAC in the form of visualization. This is very useful and conducive to library users. So all the libraries are very much attracted to these modern services and strategies. This integrated framework is based on web 2.0, and folksonomy-enabled services in tag and word cloud. Overall, it is possible to integrate and generate these services with OPAC to increase modern information retrieval systems and services

    Transforming Thesaurus Records into MARC 21 and MADS: Designing a Framework for Libraries

    Purpose This paper analyzes various thesaurus formats for converting data and how they can easily be implemented in libraries. These data formats are very important and necessary because they can easily transfer data from one system to another. The main focus of this system is on the data format of the Thesaurus Constructon. Methodology It is made with the TemaTres tool, which is used by many other tools. It has many new and modern features that librarians can use to create a new interface. In other words, it is possible to link other software very easily through these formats. There are four main steps to follow to build this system such as (i) Study the Thesaurus Subject Repositories; (ii) Comparative Study of Controlled Vocabulary Tools; (iii) Construction of Controlled Vocabularies; (iv) Creation of Formats for Thesaurus. Findings Users will benefit a lot from using this interface as they will be able to access all the information they need very easily. In addition, two of these formats, MARC21 and MADS, can be imported into Koha, allowing users to access additional information from Koha\u27s OPAC interface that is located within TemaTres. Originality With these concepts, thesaurus of any subject can be created and data linking between other software can be done. It is possible to publish any types of linked data formats with the help of Apache Jena and Apache Jena Fuseki to external integration for easy access of metadata. Therefore a prototype vocabulary can be created through this system from which all libraries can benefit
